International Year of Volunteers +10

Recognizing that volunteerism is an important key of any development project, and following the successes implemented on the momentum created by the IYV, the UN General Assembly called for the marking of IYV + 10 in 2011 by reaffirming its recognition of the work of the United Nations Volunteers program, who is the focal point for the follow-up to the International Year of Volunteers, and requests it to continue to raise awareness of the contribution of volunteerism to peace and development, to act as a convener on the subject for the various interested stakeholders, to make available networking and reference resources and to provide technical cooperation to developing countries, upon their request.

  • To share a common vision
  • To raise volunteerism on the development agenda
