The
best housing indicators are those recorded in the Mohafazat of Beirut,
where only 21.6 percent of resident households belong to the category of
low satisfaction, compared to 21.5 percent and 56.8 percent in the
intermediate and high degrees, respectively. These indicators are at
their lowest level in the Mohafazat of the North, with 31 percent of
households falling within the low degree of satisfaction, 28.1 percent
in the intermediate, and 40.9 percent in the high degree. These
percentages indicate the internal distribution of households residing
within the mohafazat according to the housing index, and the disparity
in housing conditions within the mohafazat itself and between the
mohafazats.
The kadas of Hermel, El-Minieh, Baalbeck, Tripoli and Bent-Jbeil fall at
the lower end of the scale with respect to the housing index. The kadas
of Kesrouan, Jezzine and Rachayya are found at the opposite end of the
scale, having the lowest ratio of households belonging to the low degree
of satisfaction.

When these percentages are
calculated on the basis of the share of each mohafazat and kada (Tables
73 and 74 below) in total households falling below the threshold, the
Mohafazat of Mount Lebanon comes first followed by the Mohafazats of the
North, Beirut, Bekaa, the South and Nabatieh. Also, the ranking of kadas
will differ, with urban areas, especially the suburbs, coming at the top
of the scale.
