{short description of image}{short description of image}
1. Level of education attained by head of household
In general, a correlation can be observed between the educational level attained by the head of the household and the degree of satisfaction of the need for housing. In the case of illiterate heads of households, and those with an elementary education and below, the ratio of households with low satisfaction is above the national average, ranging between 28.8 percent and 39.2 percent (Table 67). The corresponding ratios for heads of households with a secondary and university levels of education are, respectively, 13.7 percent and 6.8 percent only. For the heads of households in these two levels having a high degree of satisfaction the corresponding ratios are 63.7 percent and 77.0 percent, compared to a national average of 47.6 percent.

2. Relation to work

The data in Table 68 indicate that a strong correlation exists between the work status and the housing index. The situation of wage earners and independent workers is more closely associated with the low degree of satisfaction (31.1 percent and 26.2 percent of all heads of households ,respectively), compared to only 12.4 percent of employers with a low degree of satisfaction. The situation is reversed in the category of high satisfaction, which includes 67.6 percent of heads of households who are employers, compared to 41.4 percent for wage earners.

3. Relation to age of head of household
Deprived households within the the age group 50 years and above constitute 23.2 percent of households with a low degree of satisfaction, compared to 25.9 percent at the national level. The corresponding percentages for households having a high degree of satisfaction are 51.1 percent and 47.6 percent, respectively. These figures give more weight to the influence of the factors of past accumulation and continuity in housing conditions over current resources and conditions in raising the level of the housing index.
