Fiscal Reform and Administration (Revenue Enhancement)

UNDP support in this area provides the Ministry of Finance with a flexible mechanism for aid coordination and for soliciting professional expertise to help the Ministry to perform its fiscal policy role and to effectively collect, manage, administer and account for the public finances of the country. It aims at reactivating and modernizing the tax and customs administrations, and the budget and treasury systems (www.finance.gov.lb). At the same time, the project supports the establishment of a greatly strengthened and modernized customs administration capable of generating an appropriate level of revenue in an efficient and cost-effective manner, and of providing reliable statistics on imports and exports (www.customs.gov.lb); and the Cadastre Operations Management and Automation Project (COMAP) under the World Bank loan through sub-contracting arrangements outside the immediate purview of the project.
