Human Development Reports
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has published the Human Development Report (HDR) on yearly basis since 1990. Building on the work of the Nobel Prize-winner Amartya Sen and others, the HDR makes groundbreaking efforts to assess the state of global development from a people-centered perspective that puts the expansion of human capabilities, choices and opportunities at the center of the development process.
It soon became clear that regional and national reports on human development were also necessary. The successive publication of the global Report stimulated and accelerated in recent years the production of regional, sub-regional and national Human Development Reports.
To date UNDP helped prepare two Arab regional Human Development Report, 35 national and sub-national reports for 17 Arab countries. To date Lebanon has produced 3 National reports.
