Background
Supply of equipment and the provision of training for Civil Defense activities (including first aid and removing victims from under rubble), in close collaboration with the Ministry of Interior.
Achievements & Expected Results
•Arrival of ten first aid kits to enable consultants to train civil defence members on the proper techniques of rescue through first aid techniques
•Four training sessions were organized till now whereby 120 civil defence members were recruited and 6 potential trainees were identified as eligible to train trainers
•Four ceremonies took place upon each training’s certificate distribution representatives from the French Embassy; UNDP and the civil defence were present at the ceremony. The press was also present to cover the entire event
•111 medical equipment were received and installed in the 96 ambulances already owned by the Lebanese civil Defence all over Lebanon
•Specifications for ten new ambulances were devised, Quotations launched. Supplier determined and the new equipments will be received in the middle of November 2008 to be distributed to the civil defence branches relative to the Population‘s density i.e. higher accidents’ occurrence
