Background
The project aims at supporting the greening of Lebanon’s recovery, reconstruction and reform activities through the activation of end-use energy efficiency and renewable energy applications. To achieve this, the project will work on three levels: First, through the implementation of end-use energy efficiency and renewable energy demonstration projects in selected public sector buildings and facilities across Lebanon; Second, through the set up of an enabling environment for the conversion of other public sector buildings and facilities into energy efficient modalities, and third, through the development of a national sustainable energy strategy and action plan. The project is financed by the Lebanon Recovery Fund through a donation from Spain, and is in line with Lebanon’s ongoing efforts to improve national patterns of energy consumption and cost.

Achievements & Expected Results
- Enable activation of energy efficiency and renewable energy applications in Lebanon.
- Assist the Government of Lebanon in implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to support the recovery, reconstruction and reform programme and to reduce national energy consumption and costs.
- Decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by introducing and demonstrating new energy and cost efficient approaches and by supporting the overall shift towards energy efficiency and renewable energy applications.
