Agreement to establish the Lebanese Center for Energy Preservation

Under the patronage of H.E minister of Energy & Water (a.i) Mr. Mohammad El Safadi and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative H.E Dr. Mona Hammam, UNDP and LCECP (Lebanese Center for Energy Preservation Project) organized the signing ceremony of the agreement to establish of the Lebanese Center for Energy Preservation. The signing ceremony took place on Monday the 18th of June 2007, at the Ministry of Energy & Water.

According to this agreement, a center will be created in the Lebanese Republic, acquiring legal personality, financial and administrative independence, and will be affiliated to the Minister of Energy & Water, and supported by UNDP for a three years period during its foundational process. The center will be named “The Lebanese Center for Energy Preservation” and will deal exclusively with issues related to awareness on energy conservation and renewable energies.
The center will monitor and audit all energy consuming projects and will publish certifications to all energy efficient equipment. Moreover, the center will encourage the use of energy efficient equipment and renewable energy sources. It is also important to note that the center will set proper strategies, policies and plans related to energy conservation and it will spread the values of energy conservation among Lebanese citizens.
